Our Methods:

Peacekey boardmembers and consultants work directly with parents and school staff to help create and maintain schools where student connect with one another, receive authentic feedback, and are engaged in their lessons.

Our Ideals:

We are aligned with Challenge Day’s vision that every child lives in a world where they feel safe, loved and celebrated and believe students will learn best in such an environment. We are a part of the Be The Change Movement’s mission, which is to inspire people to be the change they wish to see in the world for the benefit of the planet and its people.

Our Principles:

  1. We Include the Whole Student: The entire person attends the school, mind, body, (spirit), and heart. All experiences, emotions, thoughts, and actions, are considered whether it is in the design of a course, a day, or a lesson. Students are directed in a safe, clear, and appropriate manner.
  2. We Include Community: Students, families, staff, and the surrounding neighborhood are part of the governance and involved with the development of the school. The group processes of inclusion, influence and affection are used.
  3. We are a Small School: Providing high quality attention to students and a private school feeling within a public school setting. We will not have more than 200 students total or more than 15 students per academic classroom.
  4. We are Innovative: Utilizing effectual practices such as morning check-ins, mixed age classrooms, project based learning, individualized curriculum modules, real world activities, small group learning, large group projects, and meaningful grading procedures.
  5. We Plan Well: Decisions, plans, and solutions are created by taking the time needed for the proper process, including all the involved parties, weighing the issues carefully, and considering all outcomes.
  6. We are Socially and Environmentally Active. We actively participate in helping to create the greatest positive impact on our environment by educating ourselves and others to do the same through information and example. Our environment includes our natural environment and our human communities, both local and global. In the development of all areas, such as budget, curriculum, policy, and outreach, we always make decisions and take actions based on considerations of what we both know and believe to be in the best interests of our environment.
